New Release!

To A Few Who Might Be Curious . . . And “American Blues” 
The seemingly ambitious release of four “Rod Coleman” solo albums in the last two years has nothing to do with any kind of personal aspirations to perform as a solo artist, nor any issues or artistic differences with my musical family that is The Groovebirds.  Speaking for myself, I hope to continue making and releasing albums with Phil Carroll and Tracy Coleman for as long as we are able.  These solo albums were merely drawn primarily from music that I had put on the shelf over may years; and their creation has mostly been about passing time in Eastern Oregon and (perhaps) closure.  Indeed, these recordings were actually assembled while I was working with Tracy and Phil via file sharing to release the seventh album by The Groovebirds, "It Was Another Time,” and one of the songs slated for inclusion on these solo efforts wound up on that album.       
For what it's worth, one of the best things about working with Tracy and Phil is that we don't place restrictions on each other in terms of what we contribute as songwriters to our albums, even when a given viewpoint on a subject does not square with our own.  That aspect of our music is obvious to anyone who knows us.  So I have always felt free to contribute whatever I happen to be working on to our projects.  Having said that, the material relof the eased on “American Blues” reflects some rather personal views of American life and politics; and I've deliberately released these works in a solo effort to avoid unfair criticism toward my bandmates.  
“American Blues” is a DIY project released in a time when the country is divided and inclined toward bellicose politics; which is unlikely to be well received.  The lyrical content of this album underscores the absurdity of the aforementioned situation, and takes shots at both sides of the political spectrum.  This, in itself, will almost certainly alienate the faithful “red” and “blue" ticket swallowers of both parties.  Moreover, those who gravitate toward mindless “good times” music to forget things like plight of the growing numbers of people excluded from the pursuit of happiness as America becomes “great again” are also likely to find fault with this one.  So overall, it is a project unlikely to impress or create a sense of well being in these times, that will probably be ignored, and is destined to fade quickly into obscurity.

“Leftovers!”
A third collection of songs by Rod Coleman from the Groovebirds Music “Shelf” has been released, and is currently available through most streaming platforms worldwide.  
Like the first two albums released from this archive, “Leftovers” is a selection of tunes that were (mostly) written in the early 1990s, and later recorded and enhanced in home studios between 2018 and 2026.
